Demers was a definite fan favorite over the past few years. He has been affiliated with the Sharks franchise, whether he was playing in Worcester or San Jose, since 2008. During the 2014-15 campaign, Demers had zero goals an only three assists over the course of 20 games, with a plus/minus rating of -6. Last season, Demers had a +14 rating with 5 goals and 29 assists over 75 games played. At this point in the season, he definitely wasn’t contributing to the blue line the way he has in past years. And with the Sharks performance as of late, it’s no surprise that the Sharks made a move… and Demers has been slacking a lot lately. Perhaps Dillon will bring some life to the defense and who knows, Demers may be happier and begin playing up to his potential in Dallas.
Could this be the beginning of of Doug Wilson starting to finally shake things up? Will this notoriously promised rebuild actually be starting? Perhaps. Only time will tell… but I believe there will be more changes in the coming months. Especially if the Sharks don’t start tallying some wins.
Farewell Daddy! You will definitely be missed.
