The San Jose Sharks will be entering their 25th year as a franchise and the organization is planning many different activities to honor their silver anniversary.

San Jose’s Chief Operating Officer John Tortora had this to say about the franchise’s history:

"“The San Jose Sharks have established a proud and storied history in our first 25 years in the National Hockey League. It is our intention to honor and showcase that history this season in detailed fashion through a variety of activities. Most importantly, we want to thank and recognize our devoted and passionate fans, who have served as the driving force behind our franchise and the inspiration for the more than 300 players who have donned the Sharks uniform.”"

According to a release by the Sharks, San Jose will have a new logo to commemorate their 25th season, which will be worn on all their game jerseys for the 2015-16 season. The first Sharks player to don the new patch was 2015 first-round pick Timo Meier, who wore the patch after being selected ninth overall at the NHL Entry Draft.

Throughout the season, the team will wear a new “Heritage Jersey” for a select number of games, and the jerseys will be designed by Terry Smith, who was the original creator of San Jose’s initial logo and uniforms. A schedule of the “Heritage Jersey” dates will be released at a later date.

Also, the Sharks plan on honoring players from their past on select nights throughout the season. Yesterday, the Sharks Store at SAP Center began selling merchandise with the new 25th anniversary theme.

After the disappointment of last season, maybe the Sharks will be able to put it all together next year in honor of their 25th year as an NHL franchise.
