With the calendars turning to August over the weekend, the season is starting to approach on the horizon. The San Jose Sharks are looking to get back on the ice after a disappointing 2014-15 season, and catch up with all the Sharks news from the past week including a couple of different reviews of how San Jose has fared this offseason:

Joe Pavelski was the unquestioned leader and best player for the Sharks last year. If San Jose needed something done, Pavelski did it. Take a look back at Pavelski’s season as he once again led the Sharks in goals and points.

– San Jose and general manager Doug Wilson have been lauded for their offseason moves to turn this time from a tomorrow team into one that is back in contention mode. Craig Custance of ESPN gave the Sharks fairly high marks for their summer additions.

– New head coach Peter DeBoer is still looking to fill out the rest of his coaching staff. It appears the newest addition to his staff will have a focus on the power play as Bob Boughner will focus on the defense and penalty kill, while Johan Hedberg will be with the goalies.

– The San Jose Barracuda announced six of their guaranteed home games for their inaugural season. The Barracuda will open their season on Oct. 9 at SAP Center and there will be five double-headers with the Sharks, including the first one on Nov. 28.

– Finally, San Jose is set to make 11 national appearances on the NBC Sports Network, highlighted by three matchups against the Los Angeles Kings including their season opener on Oct. 7.
