San Jose Sharks Release 2015-16 Promotional Schedule

The San Jose Sharks are entering their 25th season as a franchise and they announced their 2015-16 promotional schedule, with plenty of giveaways to highlight some of the best players over the years.

The promotions begin on Oct. 10 when the Sharks host their home opener against the Anaheim Ducks as all fans will receive a T-shirt. Also, prior to that game, the San Jose Sharks will honor their founding owner, George Gund III, with a commemorative banner.

The main attraction on the promotional schedule is the announcement that San Jose will wear their new “Heritage Jersey” on three occasions during the upcoming season: Nov. 3 versus the Columbus Blue Jackets, Dec. 1 against the Pittsburgh Penguins and Jan. 18 versus the Ottawa Senators. The look and design of those Heritage Jerseys have yet to be released, but should be in the near future.

Furthermore, in recognition of their 25th anniversary, the Sharks will have a six-part poster series that will feature work by local artists that highlight memorable players and moments throughout the franchise’s history. Those six games are: Oct. 28 vs. Nashville Predators, Nov. 10 against the New York Islanders, Dec. 30 vs. Philadelphia Flyers, Jan. 26 against the Colorado Avalanche, Feb. 29 vs. Montreal Canadiens, and March 22 against the St. Louis Blues.

Also, San Jose will honor three of the most beloved players in Sharks history with an alumni mini-locker giveaway. Owen Nolan will be up first on Nov. 7 when San Jose hosts Anaheim, while Mike Ricci’s will be on Jan. 9 when the Toronto Maple Leafs come to town, and Evgeni Nabokov will conclude the giveaway on March 12 against the Washington Capitals.

Other promotional nights include the always popular magnetic schedule giveaway on Oct. 22 against the Los Angeles Kings, and a Joe Pavelski bobblehead on Fan Appreciation Night versus the Arizona Coyotes on April 9.

The Sharks will host a variety of Alumni Nights throughout the season where they honor players from the past including a video tribute before the game, dropping of the ceremonial first puck and visit to the Sharks broadcast teams.

The San Jose Sharks have plenty planned for the fans throughout the upcoming season, and it will be up to new head coach Peter DeBoer and the players to improve their play on home ice to give Sharks fans something to cheer about.

With everything that will be going on, the current players have an opportunity to make the 25th season in franchise history a special one.
