It’s been something that has been brewing since last year as Pavelski has assumed many of the leadership capabilities for this team. – Raffi Torres has missed a majority of the past two seasons while battling an ACL injury, and he looked like he was finally healthy and ready to go for the upcoming season. However, an illegal hit to the head of Anaheim’s Jakob Silfverberg in Saturday’s preseason finale garnered a 41-game suspension from the NHL Department of Player Safety.
– If Torres wants to prolong his career in the NHL, it’s time for him to clean up his game as he’s know been warned, fined or suspended nine times throughout his NHL career. His next questionable hit could be the last one he ever delivers in the NHL if he doesn’t make the necessary changes.
– The San Jose Sharks finalized their opening night roster for the 2015-16 season as Mirco Mueller, Nikolay Goldobin and Melker Karlsson were the latest to be sent to the San Jose Barracuda. Karlsson was sent down due to injury and should return to the Sharks in short order, while Mueller and Goldobin will spend more time as they develop with major minutes in the AHL.
– After struggling in his first season back on the blue line, Brent Burns settled in nicely on defense during the preseason. Look for Burns to have a big season as his offensive game looks just as potent as ever, while his defensive game should see considerable improvements.
– Finally, our countdown continues to wind down looking at the Top 25 players in Sharks history. Check out part four of our list that take a look at players 6-10.
