The San Jose Sharks wrapped up another week of action during the 2015-16 season, and the Sharks still sit atop the Pacific Division. While San Jose has been hit hard by the injury bug, they’ve managed to maintain their standing within the division.

– It was a rough start to the week for San Jose as they had a big opportunity to open a gap between themselves and the hated Los Angeles Kings. Unfortunately, the Sharks were undone by turnovers as the Kings raced out to a 3-0 lead en route to a 4-1 victory. San Jose and Los Angeles are tied atop the Pacific Division with identical 5-3-0 records.

– Despite dropping three straight games, San Jose was able to right the ship last Saturday night against the Carolina Hurricanes. Led by offseason acquisition Joel Ward, the Sharks emerged with a 5-2 win as Ward recorded his first hat trick in teal. Ward leads all San Jose players with five goals and eight points through the first eight games of the season.
– As the Sharks begin to get more healthy bodies back, they’ve had a shuttle of players going back-and-forth between San Jose and the Barracuda. The latest moves saw three players reassigned to San Jose’s newest AHL affiliate earlier today: Bryan Lerg, John McCarthy and Mirco Mueller.
– San Jose has long been known as one of the most potent power play teams in the entire NHL. After finishing sixth in the league last year, the Sharks have struggled to get things going with the man advantage in the early going. Currently, San Jose ranks 25th with a power play percentage of 12.0 percent.
– The San Jose Barracuda were able to pick up their first two wins as a franchise last week as San Jose’s new AHL franchise banked their first points of the year. Micheal Haley leads the Barracuda with four goals on the young season.
