The San Jose Sharks are honoring their 25th anniversary as a franchise with a series of promotions and events to help recognize great moments and players throughout the organization’s history. With that in mind, the Sharks announced three additional Alumni Nights to their schedule.
Last week, San jose added promotions to honor Jamie Baker on Nov. 25 before the game against the Chicago Blackhawks, Arturs Irbe on Jan. 24 before hosting the Los Angeles Kings and Jeff Odgers who will be honored on March 19 before the Sharks take on the New York Rangers.
Baker, who is currently serving as the Sharks TV analyst, scored perhaps the biggest goal in Sharks history when he scored the game-winning goal in Game 7 of the 1994 Western Conference Quarterfinals when the eighth-seeded Sharks knocked off the powerhouse Detroit Red Wings. Many Sharks fans will never forget that moment, and he still remains a popular figure within the organization.

Despite his small stature, Irbe was a fan-favorite in San Jose as he manned the nets through many tough seasons, but also, came up big in some of those initial playoff triumphs for the organization. Irbe ranks fourth all-time in Sharks history with 57 wins, but his impact goes way beyond the wins and losses.
Odgers was a former Sharks captain who endeared himself to the San Jose faithful with his willingness to drop the gloves at any moment in time. Odgers is still the franchise’s all-time leader in penalty minutes with 1,001, showcasing how he was never one to back down from a fight.
All three of these players are well-deserved to be honored with their own night as each was impactful in setting the foundation for the franchise. Each player wasn’t the most skilled or talented, but all three left it all on the ice when they donned the teal uniforms.
