Perfection.
The San Jose Sharks made history on Sunday night, sweeping a road trip of at least six games for the first time in franchise history.
It wasn’t easy however, as the Sharks were staring at a two-goal deficit early in the third period. But this San Jose team was determined to finish what they started on their longest road trip of the season, scoring four consecutive goals to down the Columbus Blue Jackets by a 5-3 final score.
The Sharks refused to lose in this one as Joe Pavelski got San Jose right back in the game with one of his patented Pavelski tips as he was skating away for the Columbus net before tipping home Justin Braun’s shot from the right point between the legs of Sergei Bobrovsky to cut the margin to 3-2.
Then, the Sharks picked an opportune time for their power play to convert as Joel Ward found a streaking Brent Burns with a perfect cross-ice pass, and Burns one-timed it home to even the game at three as Bobrovsky had absolutely no chance.

San Jose would take their first lead since Patrick Marleau’s first period tally put the Sharks up 1-0 when Brenden Dillon fired an innocent-looking wrist shot from the left point which somehow found its way into the back of the net. The Sharks players on the ice and bench erupted in elation as the Columbus crowd was stunned as San Jose had just scored three goals over a seven-minute span to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead.
Alex Stalock, who was put in the unenviable position of having to close out the road trip after not appearing in a game for 12 days, made the lead hold up, stopping 28 of the 31 shots he faced before the captain provided the final exclamation point on this night.
Pavelski, stole the puck from Boone Jenner right as Bobrovsky had left the net, and he deposited his 12th goal of the season to cap off a perfect 6-0 road trip for the boys in teal.
It was a remarkable run for the Sharks, who entered the trip one game below the .500 mark, but head home five games over .500 and in first place in the Pacific Division with 26 points. San Jose improved their league-best road record to an astounding 10-3-0 after their dominant run of play.
Making the feat even more impressive, the Sharks did so by winning two sets of back-to-back games and four one-goal games as well.
