The San Jose Sharks rolled into the All-Star break as one of the hottest teams in the NHL, racking up points in 10 consecutive games. With 34 games remaining, San Jose finds themselves in second place in the Pacific, sporting a 26-18-4 record and 56 points.
The Sharks impressive performance leading into the break wasn’t the only bit of teal-related news as San Jose made quite the splash over the All-Star weekend. Brent Burns and Joe Pavelski, along with their two children, stole the show during the Breakaway Challenge.
Then, Burns and Pavelski helped the Pacific Division take home the All-Star crown and the $1 million prize that accompanied it.

Burns represents one of the most dynamic offensive weapons from the blue line in the NHL, leading all defensemen with 18 goals and ranking second with 43 points.
– Making the trek with Burns to Nashville, Pavelski was much-deserving of his first All-Star appearance. The first-year captain has done everything for the Sharks this season, leading the team with 25 goals, 49 points and a league-high eight game-winning goals.
– Looking back to their final game before the break, San Jose dominated the Colorado Avalanche in impressive fashion. The Sharks had six different goal-scorers as they emerged with a 6-1 victory over the Avalanche to close out the first half on an 8-0-2 run.
– With the Sharks out of action, it’s a good time to check on some of San Jose’s top prospects. Kevin Labanc, a 2014 sixth-round pick by the Sharks, is tearing up the Ontario Hockey League as he leads the league with 84 points through 43 games.
– Unfortunately, there is one team that has been struggling of late and that is the San Jose Barracuda who have been mired in a four-game losing streak. The Barracuda have been unable to get Roy Sommer his 636th career victory which would tie an AHL record.
