The San Jose Sharks are in the midst of a tough, four-game road trip as they begin the post All-Star break portion of their schedule. San Jose has had mixed results to this point, going 1-2-0 after falling in Nashville on Saturday night.

While the Sharks are still trying to find their footing in the second half of the season, they still find themselves in second place in the Pacific Division, although the hard-charging Anaheim Ducks are hot on their tails.

In a tightly contested matchup, the Sharks made one too many mistakes as Anaheim emerged with a 3-2 victory over San Jose. As things stand now, the Sharks hold a one-point advantage over the Ducks, who do hold a game in hand.

– Two nights later, San Jose traveled to St. Louis to take on the Blues for the first time this season. The Sharks bounced back with the perfect road game as San Jose used two second period goals to post a 3-1 win over St. Louis behind goals from Joonas Donskoi, Joe Thornton and Matt Nieto.

– With all the physical battles the Sharks have faced this week, it has provided a good test as San Jose readies themselves for playoff-style hockey. Besides their beatdown in Nashville, the Sharks have been playing in many one-goal affairs which is how many postseason games are decided.

– The San Jose Barracuda were mired in the midst of a six-game losing streak as they couldn’t find a way to see Roy Sommer tie the all-time AHL wins record. Fortunately, the Barracuda were finally able to break through as they downed the San Antonio Rampage to earn Sommer his 636th career victory, tying him with Fred “Bun” Cook.
