San Jose had a very busy week as they made two trades while continuing their pursuit for the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The San Jose Sharks wrapped up another action-packed week with a big, 4-1 come-from-behind victory over the Vancouver Canucks last night. San Jose sits comfortably in third place in the Pacific Division with 72 points, but they are still trying to track down both the Kings and Ducks.

With the postseason in mind, general manager Doug Wilson was very busy in upgrading the depth of this Sharks team with a pair of trades before today’s deadline.

Get caught up on all the latest news and notes surrounding team teal in this week’s roundup:

– To get things started, Wilson acquired Roman Polak and Nick Spaling from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a pair of second-round picks and Raffi Torres. While the Sharks needed the defensive depth, it was a puzzling move by giving up prime assets for a sixth defenseman and additional forward depth.

– Wilson wasn’t done wheeling and dealing as he upgraded the backup goaltender position by acquiring James Reimer from Toronto on Saturday. It was a necessary move as Alex Stalock just wasn’t able to provide the Sharks the performance they needed between the pipes.

– The Sharks wrapped up their five-game roadie with a stop in the Mile High city as San Jose looked to take four out of five on their trek. Despite a late Joel Ward tally to send the game to overtime, the Sharks would fall in the shootout to the Colorado Avalanche as they went 3-1-1 in their last extended trip of the season.

– After concluding their five-game trip, San Jose returned home to host the lowly Buffalo Sabres. The Sharks would get a goal from Marc-Edouard Vlasic just 88 seconds into the contest, but they would be undone by a couple of unlucky bounces in falling by a 3-1 final.

– With all the trade activity this week, we took a look at whether the Sharks should consider trading a sure-fire Hall of Famer? Joe Thornton has put together another stellar season in teal but take a look at the case for and against trading Thornton.

– Finally, the San Jose Barracuda find themselves in a tight battle for the postseason with 20 games remaining after splitting a pair of games against the Stockton Heat.
