The San Jose Sharks have been mired in mediocrity for the past year-and-a-half, and they can’t seem to shake themselves from the rut they’ve been in recently. Thus far in November, the Sharks have traded wins and losses and they continue to find themselves in the middle of the pack of the Pacific Division this season.
The latest example of San Jose’s inability to build some momentum was in Saturday’s 1-0 loss to the rival Anaheim Ducks, with their backup netminder and playing on back-to-back nights. It was a crushing loss for the Sharks because they had a chance to distance themselves from the Ducks in the early part of this season, while also putting forth multiple good efforts to close out this home stand.
Instead, San Jose finds themselves with a 7-7-0 record and needing a victory on Tuesday night to salvage a .500 home stand before heading on the road for their longest trip of the year.

– San Jose’s lone victory of the week came in a promising performance against the Florida Panthers. Alex Stalock picked up his first win of the season, and the Sharks had contributions up-and-down the lineup as San Jose rolled to a 5-2 victory.
– The Sharks kicked off the week by hosting the struggling Columbus Blue Jackets, but the disturbing trend of playing down to the opposition reared it’s ugly head yet again. San Jose gave up a pair of goals less than 30 seconds apart in the final minutes of the second as Columbus picked up only their third win of the season in a 5-2 pasting of the Sharks. It’s not good when the only positives from this night were San Jose’s awesome throwback uniforms.
– One player who seems to be settling into his role in San Jose is Joonas Donskoi. The 24-year-old Donskoi has been one of the Sharks best forwards during the month of November as he adjusts to life at the NHL level.
– The San Jose Barracuda were able to secure their first home win as a franchise, a 4-2 victory over the Ontario Reign, handing the Reign their first loss of the season.
– Finally, the Sharks continued their flurry of moves from the between the AHL and NHL levels as Barclay Goodrow was reassigned to the Barracuda, while Nikolay Goldobin and Micheal Haley were called up to the Sharks.
