The Sharks and Jeff Skinner have mutually agreed to terminate their contract. Skinner was placed on waivers yesterday and cleared earlier today, finalizing the move. Skinner will become an unrestricted free agent.

Celebrini has taken the league by storm this season, with his 81 points in 55 games, not only putting him among the top scorers this season, but also putting him on pace to have one of the greatest teenage seasons in history.

Chernyshov has done nothing but impress this season. After a slow training camp, Chernyshov has put up 27 points in 31 games at the AHL to go along with his NHL success, and has been praised around the league.

The Sharks have been active on the trade market as the league is on break for the Olympics. While the rosters are frozen at this time, there is a quick turnaround from the league returning at the end of February and the trade deadline on March 6th.

Reports have come out that the Sharks have made an effort to retain pending UFA defenseman Mario Ferraro on a short-term extension. Ferraro and his camp reportedly rejected that offer, wanting more long-term security from the Sharks.

According to TSN insider Chris Johnston, the Sharks and Sherwood are not close in contract talks. The two sides have had preliminary discussions but remain far apart on his next contract. With no deal looking close at this time.
